Clyde's Restaurant in Waynesville offers a straightforward, no-frills Southern dining experience that feels rooted in the community’s appetite for hearty, home-style meals. Located on South Main Street, this spot draws locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food served in generous portions and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

The interior has a down-to-earth vibe where familiar faces are greeted with smiles, setting a casual tone that suits everything from fueling up after a morning run to gathering with a larger group for a filling dinner. Service tends toward attentive and friendly, often standing out for accommodating bigger parties without making guests feel rushed. There’s enough bustle during peak hours to feel lively, but without tipping into overwhelming noise or stress.

Menu highlights reflect traditional Southern favorites and thoughtful twists: the fried chicken dinner and jumbo fried shrimp basket speak to those craving crispy, satisfying seafood and poultry options, while sides like broccoli casserole and potato and gravy add that comforting heft typical of this region’s meals. The daily specials, such as meatloaf or turkey with dressing, alongside crowd-pleasers like the Philly cheesesteak combo and pimento cheeseburger, ensure there’s a bit of something for every appetite. For those finishing up on a sweet note, the blackberry cobbler and chocolate pie keep the classic Southern dessert theme authentic.

Clyde’s feels particularly suited for visitors and locals who want a down-home meal without pretense—families, repeat travelers to the Maggie Valley area, and groups looking for a dependable spot with ample portions and reasonable prices. Breakfast is notably hearty, with offerings like the Big Country Breakfast getting regular nods from early diners.

Given the steady flow of diners, the best times to visit might be just before or after typical meal rushes to avoid waits, especially if visiting with a group. That said, the welcoming environment and courteous staff soften wait times, making it feel more a part of the local rhythm than a frustrating stop.

Overall, Clyde’s stands as a practical and familiar Southern restaurant where the focus is clearly on straightforward food done well, a sense of neighborhood recognition, and enough space to bring everyone who’s craving a reliable comfort meal.

This place was the greatest. The food was amazing, plentiful & priced right. Ashley, our server, was super polite, courteous and did a phenomenal job. Definitely recommend. Edit: We have now been back to Clyde's for a second time and it was just a great as the first. We have now decided that every time we are in the Maggie Valley area we will always stop by Clyde's.

W just finished running a race, and we were so hungry. We decided to stop in to get a bite to eat. It is a down-home comfort food restaurant. All the staff were so nice. They all smiled and recognized you when you walked in. I got the ham with fried okra, green beans, and mac and cheese. It was really good. My husband got the ribeye steak sandwich. We were actually impressed. It was a thin ribeye steak . It was not fake steak. He said it was really good. My friend got the chili cheese burger. Super impressed as well. We don't live in the state but we will go eat there again next year when we run the race. Happy bellies

We came with a group of 20 yesterday , turned out to be a little less. We had to wait which is expected with a large group. They were great about accommodating us. Our server JANICE, was outstanding. She was very nice, on top of things, and gave great suggestions. The food and the portions were very good and plentiful. We would definitely recommend it and eat there again if in the area. If you go, ask for Janice.

Got the chicken liver entree with 3 sides - fried okra, beet and onion salad, mashed potatoes with gravy. A 'to go' box was definitely required due to the potion size. Livers were lightly breaded then cooked on the flat-top grill and were delicious and perfectly cooked! Dinner rolls are fresh baked and huge! Desserts looked tempting. Alas, no room left for pie.

Well as many times as we've been here in Maggie Valley, this was our first time to visit Clyde's. Our mistake! WOW- it was very clean, staff was friendly and attentive & the food was delicious. Ol' Diner feel, home cooked meals & the portions are plentiful. We will be back!
